Automated DNA Extraction from Cells
Hands-Free Purification of DNA from 1–16 Cell Samples in 30–40 Minutes
The Maxwell® 16 Cell DNA Purification Kit is used with the Maxwell® 16 Instrument to extract DNA from cells grown either in suspension or attached to plates. Cells are collected and processed in up to 400μl volumes. The purified DNA is ready for downstream analysis without sample preprocessing, centrifugation, precipitation or rehydration of a DNA pellet. A variety of prokaryotic organisms have also been tested.
The Maxwell® System provides efficient processing and higher sample capacity than comparable systems, without detectable cross-contamination between samples, speeding sample processing and reducing rework.
Isolates DNA from Eukaryotic and Prokaryotic Cells
In the experiment shown to the right, genomic DNA was isolated from eukaryotic and prokaryotic cells using the Maxwell® 16 Cell DNA Purification Kit. The DNA samples shown in Panel A were isolated from tissue culture lines. DNA samples in Panel B were isolated from Gram-negative bacteria, and the samples in Panel C were isolated from Gram-positive bacteria.
